How It Works

The Shelf Comes to the Picker.

MobileShelf navigates beneath a shelving unit, lifts it, and carries it to a fixed picker station. The picker never moves. PES queues the next shelf before the current pick is complete — no gaps, no idle time, no travel.

01
PES receives the order and identifies which shelf holds the required SKUs. It assigns an available MobileShelf robot and routes it to that shelf's storage position.
02
The robot slides under the shelf, lifts it with a central drive pin, and transports it to the designated picker station. SLAM navigation handles the full path — no fixed routes, no floor tape.
03
The picker scans, picks, and confirms. The shelf returns autonomously to its storage slot — or moves directly to the next station if another order requires it. PES tracks every move in real time.

Navigation Architecture

SLAM + QR.
No Floor Tape.
No Wires.

The same navigation architecture as the MobilePallet AMR. SLAM builds and maintains a live map of the floor; QR codes at picker stations deliver sub-centimeter docking precision. Reconfigure the floor layout in PES software — no construction, no downtime.

SLAM

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping. The robot builds its own floor map and updates it dynamically as the environment changes.

Dynamic Mapping

QR Correction

Floor-mounted QR codes at docking points provide absolute position correction for precision alignment at the picker station.

Sub-cm Docking
Goods to Person

60–70% of a Shift. Walking.

In a conventional pick operation, pickers travel 8–10 miles per shift. That travel produces zero output. MobileShelf eliminates it entirely — the robot does the walking. The picker stands at a fixed station and picks continuously. PES sequences shelves so the next one arrives before the current pick is complete.

Traditional Pick
Person Travels to the SKU

Pickers walk the warehouse to find each item. Travel distance accumulates across thousands of daily picks — producing zero throughput.

The SKU Travels to the Picker

PES queues shelves automatically. The picker stands still and picks. No travel. No decision-making. No idle gaps between shelves.

Arctic Series

Same Robot.
Any Environment.

The Arctic Series is the MobileShelf configured for cold storage operations. Freezer-rated battery chemistry, sealed electronics, and cold-environment lubrication. The same PES instance manages your ambient and freezer fleets simultaneously — no separate software, no separate operator console.

PES Orchestration

No Human Dispatcher. No Idle Robots.

PES manages every shelf assignment, picker station queue, and robot path in real time — across the entire fleet. It knows which shelves are needed, which robots are available, and which stations are ready. Robots don’t wait for instructions. Pickers don’t wait for shelves.

Shelf Assignment

PES receives the order, identifies the required shelf, and dispatches the nearest available robot. No manual queue management.

Station Queuing

PES sequences the next shelf to arrive before the current pick is complete. Continuous flow — no gaps between picks, no picker idle time.

Traffic Management

Real-time path planning across the full robot fleet. MobileShelf AMRs, MobilePallet AMRs, and RackBot shuttles share the floor without collisions.

Mixed Fleet

One Vendor.
One System.
Every Robot.

MobileShelf runs alongside MobilePallet AMRs and RackBot pallet shuttles under the same PES instance. One software platform orchestrates all of it. One team to call when something needs to change.
