Because RackBot stores deep on rail, the rack can run right up to the dock doors. The forklift drops a pallet at the lane mouth, scans it for PES, and turns straight back for the next one — a round trip of feet, not the length of the building. As it pulls away, a RackBot already in the lane comes forward, lifts the pallet, and indexes it to the back of a 26-deep position before the driver returns. The dock-to-rack haul drops from as much as ~150 m round trip to a few feet.
