Make the Most out of Attending MODEX 2024

Are you heading to MODEX 2024? As the premier supply chain and logistics trade show, there will be endless exhibitors, educational sessions, and networking events to explore. With a show as big as MODEX, it’s essential to have a strategic plan in place to make every second count.

Here are some tips to help you navigate MODEX effectively and maximize your experience in Atlanta.

1. Define Your Objectives

Before you pack your bags for Atlanta, ask yourself: what do I hope to achieve at MODEX? Will you be exploring the latest robot technologies for your operation? Are you looking for the right automation system for your workflows? Or are you looking for technologies like autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that will help you leapfrog your competition?

Creating a list of clear goals will allow you to stay on track and align your interactions and engagements to maximize your time at the show.

2. Prioritize Your Must-Visit Booths

With a vast show floor comprised of three halls, you can’t see everything, but you can see everything important to you. Identify the primary booths you want to visit and plan their order according to location or popularity. Remember, this is your opportunity to engage with the exhibitors, ask in-depth questions, and learn about new and emerging technologies beyond the basics.

Do your research and prepare for key conversations. Check out the companies you are interested in speaking with before arriving at MODEX and see if they are scheduling appointments before the show starts.

3. Download the Mobile App

Trade show apps are a game-changer. With live event updates, interactive maps, and exhibitor and session search features, the MODEX 2024 Mobile App is your go-to tool to stay in the know. Don’t miss a beat and download the app before you arrive. Plus, create your customized schedule in My Show Planner, which automatically syncs with the app for easy access.

4. Schedule Smartly: Be Selective with Speaker Sessions

The lineup of speakers at MODEX 2024 is as impressive as the exhibitor list. But you can’t be in two places at once. Research the speakers and topics in advance, and commit to the sessions (using My Show Planner) that hold the most relevance to your business needs and goals.

5. Don’t Forget the Networking Essentials

Business cards are the currency of networking. Bring more than you think you’ll need so you don’t risk running out and keep them accessible. Make it a habit to engage in meaningful conversations, exchange cards with new contacts, and write action items on the back of each card you receive.

If you don’t have a business card, no problem! Scan your badge at booths you visit so the vendors you engage with can stay in touch. You can also download the LinkedIn app and use the QR code scanner to connect quickly with people you meet.

6. Document Your Experience

Take notes, capture videos, and snap plenty of photos. This documentation will be invaluable once the adrenaline of the show has subsided. Use this material to relay your experience to your team, offer new ideas, and recall technologies you saw or messages you heard.

A Few Other Fast Tips:

  • Prepare your elevator pitch – You’ll be meeting a lot of people, so refine a clear, concise message explaining who you are and what you do to leave a strong impression.
  • Never eat a meal alone – Make reservations ahead of time for breakfasts, lunches, and/or dinners with important contacts.
  • Wear comfortable shoes – You’ll be standing for hours at a time. Wear supportive (and broken-in) shoes to minimize strain on your feet.
  • Be friendly but don’t waste time Say hi and chitchat with other attendees (you never know who you’ll meet in a seminar or waiting in line for coffee!) but break away from conversations that aren’t adding value.
  • Follow the 24-hour rule Meet a new contact? Connect via email or LinkedIn within one day while your meeting is still fresh in their memory.
